'I'm World Champion, Baby!'
Spoiler:
"I'm World Champion, Baby!" Those were the words of England's Jenson Button as the Brawn driver sealed his first Formula One title at Interlagos on Sunday. The Frome pilot, having led the standings all season-long, picked up the crown after fending off the challenge of Sebastian Vettel and team-mate Rubens Barrichello.

Strangely, Jenson Button's championship title collection saw the Brawn man finish in fifth place in Brazil - as compatriot Lewis Hamilton did last year - and with the same car number, 22. The feat means Britain celebrates consecutive title winners for the first time in 40 years, after Jackie Stewart followed in the footsteps of Graham Hill in 1969.

"It's really amazing, especially after the last few races I've had," a delighted Button explained whilst hugging reporters. "This makes up for all of is. Such an awesome race. I'm World Champion, baby!

"22 years ago I jumped into a car and I just love winning, but never expected to be Champion in F1 - we've done it today!" His Brawn GP team, having had no owner after Honda pulled out in December, also celebrates the Constructors' Championship win in its maiden season - an unparalleled achievement.

Gracious Vettel looks to 2010
Spoiler:
Having needed a top two position to take the title fight to Abu Dhabi, Sebastian Vettel drove a strong drive from 15th on the grid to fourth in Brazil. Although it wasn't enough to prevent Jenson Button from wrapping up 2009 honours, the German looks to 2010 with confidence.

Vettel was naturally disappointed not to continue the fight in a fortnight but believes that Red Bull Racing will be in contention again next season. "How do I feel? Well, there is one guy happier than me, that's for sure!" a smiling Vettel told the BBC after the race.

"Starting from the back of the grid but still finishing fourth is the maximum we could have done today, really. We should have won it (for the championship battle) but we didn't, unfortunately."

When asked if he was able to keep the championship situation in mind during the 71-lap race, Sebastian replied: "I was focussing on every lap rather than thinking about our championship position. I had to score a lot of points to keep the championship alive. There was a small chance of rain but it didn't come down so it was nearly impossible for us.

"Congratulations to Jenson and Brawn. They did the best job this year and I am looking forward to next year."

Buemi enjoys another points finish
Spoiler:
It was the first time since the Chinese Grand Prix back in April that the Formula 1 fans saw Sebastien Buemi score points for the Scuderia Toro Rosso team. It was the 20-year-old's third points finish in his debut season in Formula 1 as Buemi finished seventh in Sunday's Brazilian Grand Prix.

Speaking about the race Buemi said: "It was a very difficult race for me, as I had to push hard every lap, but in the end to come away with points for the first time since China is a good result, for me and for the team, who did a good job today.

"My start was difficult, as I was sandwiched between Kubica and Rosberg at the first corner, so they got past me, which was a shame. However, we did not have a particularly strong race pace, so we must look at the data to try and understand why. I have mixed feelings because after our performance on Friday I had hoped to finish in the top five, so although the points are nice, it's not as good as I expected. Now we can look forward to Abu Dhabi where we must try and build on this result and keep moving forward."

Hamilton surprised with podium finish
Spoiler:
Outgoing Champion Lewis Hamilton was pleased for compatriot Jenson Button as the latter became the second consecutive British World Champion in Brazil on Sunday. After a disastrous qualifying session saw Hamilton eliminated in Q1 on Saturday, the McLaren driver drove a stunning race to the podium at Interlagos.

"It's been an extremely tough weekend for us," Lewis said in Sunday's press conference. "Today's result is a huge surprise for me - I had absolutely no idea that we would be able to get into the points today."

With a Safety Car deployed on Lap 1, McLaren pitted Hamilton in order to switch immediately from the slower Super Soft tyres (which much be used at least once over the distance) and benefit from the quicker, Medium compound rubber.

"The team did a great job with our strategy and the car felt just great," he continued, having questioned the strategy over team radio during the race. "There is still room for improvement but, looking back at our race, it's just great that we worked our way up from 18th to third.

"Congratulations to Jenson - he did a great job and had a great season."

McLaren is $50.000 not €50.000

But if that't true, it's another ridiculous and not consequent decision by the FIA.

Kovalainen got the time penalty for holding up Kimi so being released incorrectly, so that's a correct decision
