Re: Live Streams 2010
Hi F1 Zone fans, I've just had a nice F1@home experience (may be it's not new to some people), but I'd like to share it with F1 Zone fans, specially outside the UK where the BBC iPlayer video streaming is not allowed, but the radio is.
For the best F1 entertainment on a grand prix weekend, what you need for this nice experience is the following: a laptop computer (with internet access), and a TV (wide-screen LCD/Plasma if available).
At the time of the F1 Qualifying session and the Race, what you will do is:
1) Tune the TV to your local F1 broadcasting channel (For instance, Abu Dhabi Sports 2 in the Middle East) and mute the local audio commentary.
2) Connect the laptop the internet (wireless is more convenient), browse to the BBC iPlayer website (http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer), choose BBC Radio Five Live or BBC Radio Five Sport Extra (according to their schedule) and start the live audio streaming (English commentary by David Croft & Anthony Davidson).
3) Open another browser tab and go to Autosport Live website (http://live.autosport.com) for the live text commentary (by Emlyn Hughes and Geoff Creighton).
4) Open a new browser window and go to Formula 1 Official Live Timing (http://www.formula1.com/live_timing), but you have to register for free and enable Java on your browser.
5) If you are using Windows 7, just drag one browser window to the right to fell half the screen (press Win+right arrow), and drag the other window to the left to fill the other half of the screen (press Win+left arrow).
Now you are watching Live TV, listening to BBC Radio experts, following Live Timing and Live Text
I hope you all liked my idea and that it could add something interesting to F1 Zone fans, and I hope you enjoy Formula 1 throughout the season with my F1@home idea
P.S.
- The BBC Radio Five audio availability is not guaranteed in Free Practice sessions for international audience, I can only confirm its international availability on Qualifying and Race.
- Another great Live Timing & Text commentary also available from Speed F1 RaceCast website (http://formula-one.speedtv.com/f1-racecast)
- BBC also provide text commentary on their website (http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/motorsp ... efault.stm) at the time of the Qualifying and Race.
- Eurosport used to provide live text commentary on their website before (http://eurosport.yahoo.com/formula-1), but I'm not following them this season.
- I will try the same thing next weekend for MotoGP Qatar Grand Prix. I hope it works!
- Any suggestions or nice experiences are welcome
Thanks & Best Regards
