Gran Turismo 5
Hi all. With the worldwide release of Polyphony Digital's much-anticipated 5th full installment of the wildly successful Gran Turismo franchise, I was interested to see who here plays GT and what your thoughts are on both the upcoming GT5 release, as well as the GT series as a whole.

Re: Gran Turismo 5
Yeah, I've been playing GT5 Prologue for the past 2 years and I still think the graphics/physics are awesome. Given that GT5P is effectively a glorified demo, and that it's already 2 years old, I think GT5 Proper will be out of this world!
I've been playing the GT games for 10 years (even longer than I've been watching F1!) and they've kept me coming back for more. Not only did they introduce me into 21st century videogames (I was still playing SEGA Genesis in 2003), but GT also sparked my interest in automobiles, which has turned into a lifelong passion for me.

Re: Gran Turismo 5
No, people who've played both games extensively routinely say that Forza's presentation looks better, but they always say that GT's physics and depth of gameplay are much better.

Forza is a great game, but GT5 has more cars, more tracks, better graphics...JoostLamers wrote:I'm not a Forza fanboy, it's just the same I think: GT5 for PS3 and FM3 for XBOX, isn't it?AHAHAH wrote:lol, Forza fanboy are jealous because GT5 isnt on XBOX.

But, the making of GT5 has take 5 years, so its normal that it will beat Forza.

Re: Gran Turismo 5
I bought the game today. First impressions are generally good. My biggest issue right now is the A and B-spec ranking system. You can't participate in most events (even the license tests) until you accumulate so many ranking points. A bit frustrating...

Re: Gran Turismo 5
Ok, the whole ranking thing is really annoying. Unlike the other GT games where you could race to earn money, get the licenses, then go and buy the fast cars, this game is forcing you to literally do pretty much every little event in order to progress into the higher tiers. You can't even buy the fast cars until you get x amount of rank (regardless of whether or not you have the money). Up to this point, in terms of playability and just the ability to enjoy the game, GT4 and GT5 Prologue were better. Sounds a shame to say it, but I feel it's true.

I will soon stuck in GT5 im at 50% of game completion and trophies too...
but there will be soon 1 problem - money i must buy or get a LM car (Peuegot,Audi....) so i can beat some extreme races
but the biggest problem i when i complete a event of 3-5 races - all gold u get a c**p car as a reward now that really sucks... so if anyone has lest say the one following car pls share it
Sauber Mercedes C9
Peugeot 908 hdi
Audi R8, R10
Konica Minolta Toyota
Mazda 787b.......
i need one of these so i can move on...

Re: Gran Turismo 5
Does anyone know what the point of getting the licenses is? I have the Super License now, but it doesn't look like you need any of them to get into the higher races. I haven't gotten to the extreme events yet, but it looks like some of the game is a bit hobbled together?...
I'm up to rank 16 now on the A-Spec. So frustrating. If I'm good enough to get the Super License, how come it doesn't think I'm good enough to drive an LMP1 car???
