Cleaning the forum

Post by icemans biggest fan » 22 Jan 2009, 23:11

Hi there!

I would like to comment something about the forum.

Don´t you think it should be cleaned a little bit? I mean about 50% of the topics are old and can be deleted without problem... Also for welcoming new members for example, don´t you think it´s better there to be one single topic for all of that, and not every newbie to create a new Hi topic? You know, it should be organised a bit better and more clear...

Hope you don´t mind my comments.

I don't know about deleting old topics but the second suggestion sounds good to me. It'd better to have one introduction topic instead of a separate sub-forum for it.

well I prefer an Introduction section , if New members have any questions they wish to include with their introduction, they can be answered and kept track of easier. it's something wonderful over the years to go back to your own thread and read your first post .

About cleaning old topics , members will open the same topics again & again so its better to keep them (if they need any help they could find their answers using old topics) . Anyway all topics posted in the first pages are active .

if you have any question let us know

This gives me an idea- old topics that are no longer active (espionage etc.) - I reckon all the topics about that could be merged into one big forum - So in the General discussion Page 21 might have the Header "2007 Espionage Scandal", which links to a sub-forum with all the topics that were created on the espionage scandal. If new info comes in - start a new thread but add a message at the top saying " for old discussions on this topic, Please visit http://www.f1zone.net/generaldiscussion ... ge.example. All new discussion is to be posted HERE."
Note- Link is fake and purely an example.

Oh and one more comment:

Don´t you think it would be better if there was a limit about the size of signatures? I mean some members have really big ones, it takes 10 times more place than their messages...

i think there is a rule with signature size. Anyway if you dont want the signatures to appear at all you can change the settings

Point taken about deleting topics.

For Search >> http://www.f1zone.net/search.php

'sub topic' did you mean sub-forums or sub-categories?

We have structure used for classification.
