Rosberg let it slip on the podium that it "seems quite serious". Oh man :(

Bianchi is unconscious, being driven to the nearest large hospital by ambulance. It does seem that he indeed hit the recovery vehicle.

Massa declining to comment on his own race, only concerned about what has happened. Says he reported that the conditions had become too dangerous five laps before the SC came out.

I hope he will be alright! They should have put the SC in when the crane was on track. In hockenheim it was also very dangerous when Sutil spun out of the last corner and marshalles running across the track to push the car into the pitlane, with only a yellow flag.

I gotta agree. As eager as I was for the race to get going at first, to the point of complaining about Whiting being too cautious, I have to wonder if they weren't too slow to react to the worsening conditions at the end. The visibility got really horrid in the span of a couple laps; in similar circumstances, they had been much quicker to pull out the red flag at Montreal a few years back.

I was also really surprised that they attempted to clear Sutil's wreck without deploying the SC. It looked like a crane was going to be necessary, and under wet conditions a SC usually seems to be a no-brainer for that.

There is still so little info, though. We don't quite know what happened or when it did. It needs to be fully understood before any fingers should be pointed.

Sutil: "Situation with Bianchi is critical. He is in good hands. I was standing right next it. Don't want to talk about details." #F1

@Mattzel89: "I've received infos, but I don't want to go into details. It's very, very serious" Rosberg talking to Kai Ebel

Well, Sky's broadcast has just ended. I'd be thankful for any further updates that forum members could provide from other sources, and I will be sure to report anything that may come up on French media outlets. Much like everyone else, I am deeply worried.

BBC: Adrian Sutil, who crashed his car and was by the side of the track when Jules Bianchi's incident happened at the same corner, says: "It was the same thing that happened to me.

"The rain was increasing and daylight was going down. I was following Jules. I had a spin and ended up in the wall. I stood up and they tried to rescue the car.

"He was in the same area and lost the car. I have no more information. We are all aware of the situation. Hopefully he is in good hands."

Seen some photos on Twitter (not that I wanted to) of the wreckage from a photographer who was only a few metres away.

Horrendous situation. I don't see a good outcome.

I just worry about the impact of hitting the recovery vehicle. Come on Jules, pull through.

Exactly... This is horrible.

Must be so awful for the team, especially after what happened with Maria.

According to Mika Salo (he was in the jury this race) said to our local MTV Sport that Jule's car went straight under the crane vehicle, nose ahead.
Also, he has been sent to brain scan.
Doesn't look good.
