Monza is regarded by many as the embodiment of Formula One racing. Not only is it a fantastic example of a track that combines speed with skill, it also has a heart and soul all of its own. It has seen some of the finest races of all time, but also some of the sport's worst accidents. The names of great drivers and the sounds of engines from years gone by linger in the grand old trees surrounding the track in the royal park.

Work began on the circuit in 1922 and was completed in under six months. After Brooklands in the UK and Indianapolis in the USA, it was the third permanent race track in existence. With a banked oval incorporated into the design of the road racing circuit, the total track length stood at a whopping 10 kilometres.

The list of famous victories and horrifying crashes is long, and all combine to make Monza one of the most magical places on the Formula One calendar. For many there is nowhere that encapsulates the sport better than this circuit. The Italians call it 'La Pista Magica', the magic track, a description few would disagree with.

We need to hope Vettel retires and Alonso or Lewis wins. Infact, lets hope for that every race otherwise we may aswell not bother after singapore!

It's the weakest Red Bull circuit of 2013 but if they set the car up perfectly they can nail the acceleration and escape, like they did in 2011.

Unless they got another dodgy batch of alternators :O

Spa I thought was the weakest track for RBR and they DOMINATED! The car be supreme at every track its RBR's set up philosophy thats the problem. I expect them to be as dominant as they were in spa tbh.

Spa has never been their weakest track. This is their top quali and finish position since 2009.

2009 - Q8, R3
2010 - Q1, R2
2011 - Q1, R1
2012 - Q7, R2
2013 - Q2, R1

That's not a bad track record.

I always thought it never suited them like Monza.

Spa's good for them because they have so much downforce that they can sacrifice a lot and then run a very low downforce setting a get away with it.

The RB is strong everywhere. Saying it's weak here or weak there is just speaking relatively to other circuits. When you have so much inherent downforce in a car, that's pretty much all you need. Come rain, shine, high-speed or low-speed, you'll be fast nevertheless.

I never thought Spa was a weak track for them for the exact reason Phil has mentioned.

Monza is their weakest circuit:

2009: 8/R
2010: 4/6
2011: 1/R
2012: 20/22

But I'd still be surprised if Vettel finished outside of the top five because even last year I think he was 5th when the alternator failed.

I thought Spa was weak because outside of 2011, in dry conditions they were never as competative as Ferrari or Mclaren. 2010 and 2012 they weren't competative. 2011 and 2013 they dominated.

2011 was a turning point for Red Bull. I remember in 2010 they struggled quite noticeably in Monza and they really couldn't live with the McLarens or the Ferraris. Then 2011 comes by and they win the Italian GP! I think 2011 was such a significant year in terms of their car development, and is credited for what they are now...

Aww lovely home race finally... living the dream! Will be fun as usual! F1 is back. :p
Red Bull so strong here, Ferrari and Mercedes too showing some resurgence (i hope) Lotus to fight back and McLaren probably!
Nothing like watching a GP live sitting among the Tifosi, most eclectic fans of the F1.
After the semi-boring fest that was Spa, looking forward to Monza intensively for the sake of this championship. :n
