Don't think Button can really complain about Vettel slowing up. Remember China 2010.

Was a little different, though. Button complained about the extreme stop-and-go of Vettel, Button just extremely slowed the pack down in China, though it was borderline.

True. Memories of Monza 2000. :p

Ted saying Caterham don't consider themselves in the same group as HRT and Marussia, this is a hammer blow for them.

After this race only Vettel holds his championship chances entirely in his hands. If he wins the remaining 6 races he'll be champion regardless of what Alonso does. Hamilton needs to win every race plus poor performances from Alonso's part (positions lower than second).

Hamilton's not out of this. Today was a blow but he has comfortably the fastest car now.

52 points is a huge deficit. He needs to finish the remaining races 1st or 2nd with a few rivals between him and Alonso.

Oh yeah it's a big task, but you can't say he's out of it.

Vettel needs to take 5 points in each race from Alonso to win the championship by 1 point.

Unfortunately, the things that stand out for me looking back at this weekend are car failures and ragged driving. Bring on Japan.

10 place grid penalty, fair enough. As I thought it would and should be.

But f*** sake Michael, two grid penalties this season and you've got them at two of the circuits you're best at. Expect a competitive Merc at Suzuka.

I don't understand why people are ruling out drivers from the championship race, and seem to forget how c**p that Ferrari actually is. It was 8 tenths slow in Qualy, and finished 15 secs behind the race winner with the safety car entering the pits 15 or so laps from the finish! So an average of 1 sec a lap, all on the circuit that tests the most important element in an F1 car; downforce.

The championship is very much wide open for the top 4 drivers in the standings, and those who said Ferrari fans are over-exaggerating how bad the Ferrari is are just as delusional as those who think this championship is over for their loved driver.

I think Vettel's going to take the title personally.

Webber drops to 11th, penalty.
