Disagreed with the bit on the FIA statement where it said 'it eliminated championship contenders from the race.' That should have nothing to do with it, if it's dangerous it doesn't matter who is eliminated.

It was Schumacher and Vettel. I can't see that anyone did anything wrong there.

both schumacher and webber incidents are still under investigation... and there are some rumours about another investigation but nothing confirmed yet. I might sleep in the Media Center tonight

Just got back from Trax.

So, whos worse; Maldanado or Grosjean? Sorry its grosjean. He did this what, Monaco and where else was it? ontop of the collisions in Malaysia and Australalia.

Grosjean wasn't at fault at Monaco. Alonso forced him left. He had nowhere to go.
Maldonado hit him in Australia.
At Malaysia he went in to the gravel in the wet on his own.

Erm no, Grosjean was at fault in Monaco. Alonso didnt push him into schumacher, Grosjean pushed himself into schumacher by swerving massively.

Maldanado did hit him in Australia, but he stil put himself in that position. malaysia he hit schumacher did he not? And thats why he lost downforce and ended in the gravel. he swiped perez in Barcelona too dont forget. Ontop of Hockenheim aswell.

Grosjean didn't get any penalty or warning for Monaco (in fact he hasn't had any at all until today). Alonso was trying to get in to a gap that wasn't there and they touched wheels pushing him left in to Schumacher. At Malaysia he tagged MS coming out of a slow corner. That was just a racing incident in the wet. Nothing reckless. I personally think he was unlucky at Australia. He was already on the outside of the corner with nowhere else to go.

I'm not saying he shouldn't get a penalty for Spa. It's justified for what he did when he had acres of space to his left. I'm just saying people seem to be suggesting he's wildly reckless in all of the races and that's clearly not the case. I'm pretty sure I'm allowed to have an opinion on that.

Isn't Hakkinen having a 1 race ban for triggering a multiple car crash at one gp in 94?

Grosjean totally deserved the ban, it's not the first time that he cut the line of one driver at the start. And this time the consequence of the move was enormous : he took out 3 drivers + hit Maldonado and Kobayashi!

By the way, regarding Maldonado, although he deserved the 5 place penalty for causing a collision with Glock, I found really weird to hand him a 5 place penalty for the jump start...

Talking about the Grosjean penalty, i'm not sure the punishment fits the crime. If race bans were more common then I would agree, but we have seen worse driving that has been punished less. I think people are looking too much at the result of the incident rather than the incident he is being punished for. He is being punished for causing a collision, usually that is a drive-through or a grid drop at the next race. It was a bad collision, but in my opinion, that shouldn't count for anything. Just like the fact that championship contenders were involved is irrelevant.

He deserved a penalty, I think a suspended race ban would have been good enough. I don't remember seeing that incident being under investigation, but maybe I missed it in the chaos of the first 5 laps.

If he continued to race he would have a drive-through penalty for the jump-start but since he didn't the stewards considered appropriate to move the penalty for the next race.

Completely agree with the penalty. People immediately start talking about closed cockpit cars after this kind of accident, but that's not the only thing you can do to stop it. You need to enforce the mindset that they're still racing in a dangerous sport, they're not invincible and you need to have respect for your colleagues. It looked like Grosjean thought he was an old style video game and was going to use the other cars to get himself round the corner.

I would like penalties handed out in junior categories too. What some of the GP2 and GP3 guys did was outrageous.
