About the Button-Vettel incident, why there even is a tarmac runoff at the exit of a slow corner? Surely it is not needed for safety reasons?

No, maybe you mean when he got penalised for lying to the stewards at Australia 2009 when he and McLaren lied about what they said on the radio to try and get Trulli penalised when Trulli had done nothing wrong? Anyway, stewards and media are very different things.

Anyway, 20s penalty for Vettel. Big winner is Alonso, his main rival loses even more points.

@Green Flag Yes we see too much tarmac run off which is why this sort of thing happens.

oh dear. Another 8 points lost to Alonso then :(

I wonder why Hamilton didn't get a penalty for that:

it's pretty much the same.

Yeah if Rosberg did nothing wrong in his defending, which is what the stewards said, surely Lewis did something wrong in going off the track? God it's difficult trying to understand / find some consistency in these decisions. :P

Yeah that was the incident I was thinking of.

To this day I wonder how McLaren thought they'd get away with that.

Yes he does.

But misses out on the podium celebrations.

I gather others have tried and failed? :)

Actually I wonder if the track designer gets much freedom in these things? There is probably some FIA rulebook five inches thick which defines these things...

All good but it leaves me wondering why Hamilton wasn't punished in Bahrain.
