Grand Prix de Monaco 2012
Re: Grand Prix de Monaco 2012
No, but that little bit of contact pushed him wide and into Schumacher. Lots of people (on Atlas admittedly) are saying that Grosjean is dangerous; I don't see what he could have done in this instance.
Re: Grand Prix de Monaco 2012
Not moved as far.
But to move so much was probably instinctive after contact. He's been involved in a few incidents, but there is lots to be positive about and we'll see him on the podium more this season.

Re: Grand Prix de Monaco 2012
Yeah; a few incidents but he's been a bit unlucky. Also noticed that Vettel was ahead of Raikkonen before Turn 1; probably why he didn't get a penalty.
Re: Grand Prix de Monaco 2012
That was Alonso's 76th podium today. He's fourth on the all time list only four behind Senna so he should be third at some point this season. Prost has 106 which he will surely beat in the next few seasons. Schumacher's first on 154, unlikely Alonso could reach that but depending on how long his career goes on for and his level of success it's not impossible.
Re: Grand Prix de Monaco 2012
He dedicated his podium to those affected by the Italian earthquake.

Re: Grand Prix de Monaco 2012
He's retired 3 times and has been involved in another first lap incident that ended up with the other car damaged (Pérez in Barcelona). That makes 4 first lap incidents in 6 races.iceman1 wrote:The start of the race (If I remember correctly, Grosjean retired this season from 3 races in the first laps).
I have to say that I have not made my mind yet on how many of those incidents are entirely his fault, he could have been smarter or he is completely innocent. But he seems to be a big magnet for trouble in turn 1.
Re: Grand Prix de Monaco 2012
I agree Mar, but one thing is he's never taken one bit of responsibility for any of them, even when one of them was clearly his fault. He's a racing driver so we shouldn't be surprised.
But if he can't recognise mistakes it makes it harder for him to improve and stop making them.

Re: Grand Prix de Monaco 2012
What a fantastic race that was! Red Bull got their tire strategy right, had superb pit stops and showed why Mark Webber will NOT be going to Ferrari any time soon. The commentary from Sky so far this season is bordering on moronic. No one is making excuses for why they continue to pick Kimi and he continues to disappoint? I think the poll at the top of this forum should read "Who do you HOPE wins the race" not who WILL win the race. Great drive by Alonso AND Felipe. (You all remember F. Massa? The guy who is supposedly being replaced by Webber?) If Alonso had given way to Felipe when he was being out driven by him perhaps a different Ferrari driver would have been on the podium. Massively fantastic pits for the Ferrari team.
Best race so far this year.

Re: Grand Prix de Monaco 2012
What's going on with Button in recent races? He's like Massa to Alonso is like Hamilton.

Re: Grand Prix de Monaco 2012
Bad luck for Romain. No race is won in the first corner, but can't see that he was the cause of the crash. He might have reacted more moderately to Alonso's move, but there was anyway so little room to do much. Pity that he was so fast all weekend and the race ends like that. Well, that's just racing and he'll get his big success on an other race.
Re: Grand Prix de Monaco 2012
You mean where Alonso was keeping a 2-3 second gap to Hamilton infront so he didnt get dirty air destroying his tyres, controlling the gap and making sure his pace was enough not be caught in traffic on a track where you cant overtake the car ahead, which means you wont be able to overtaken. And then after 20 laps of tyre saving, being the fastest man on track for 10-12 laps after using your brain and saving tyres, having an in lap which was what, 2 seconds faster than Hamilton and leaving Massa for dust?mileso wrote:What a fantastic race that was! Yeah, course he was being out driven. Seriously, were you watching the race?

Unfortunatly, after nudging with Alonso, he moves about a length and a half over into schumacher. He over reacts im afraid, but its just lack of experience. Problem is, thats how many crashes now? He just isn't very aware of his surroundings, it was a squeeze, but he turned into Maldando overtaking him in australia, 50 50 between him and schumacher in Malaysia, but he was going really slow and over cautious.
He just needs to be aware of other cars really.
