To quote something sdutt said in the rate thread.

Yes, Malaysia has a long straight, but there are plenty of long straights on other tracks (all but Monaco, Nurburgring, Hungary, Singapore have very long straights).

And high tyre wear at these races (all but Nurby) will help anyway

i do not agree. ofc, this is opinionated discussion. but once he had the collision, a penalty should be handed down irrespective of after-effects

its a good thing that it ended as Petrov's mistake, cause else there were fears that Buemi had flicked a bolt from Petrov's steering column and thrown it for Perez's race to end :O

It was not an offence worthy of a penalty though

He WAS sixth, he IS sixth. That's really unfair, so like no penalty.

For those of you in the UK the incident that Hamilton was penalised for can be seen on iPlayer at time code 2:20:50 here:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b0 ... rand_Prix/

Well according to Andrew Benson that was the incident he's being penalised for, but it's so incredibly harsh i'm wondering if he's wrong and it actually wasn't broadcasted at all, the following lap on that same straight the camera is on Alonso's rear wing and we can't see what Hamilton is doing just ahead.

Hamilton appears to accept the penalty, but that might just be him not giving a damn anymore because its a bad result either way.
