Woah, anybody else watched this? Quite shocked at that final corner wreck. Glad Nick is okay but boy was that uncalled for.

I really worried for Heidfeld, thought he might have hit his head. Horrible accident, massive relief he was ok. Voted him for fanboost, always been a fan. Gutted he didn't win.

That Prost move was just baffling. I'm sure if he'd bothered to look where Heidfeld was he wouldn't have done that. As far as I know he has no Maldonadoesque record of stupid driving, just unbelievable.

I noticed Prost looking in his right (?) mirror earlier on that straight, he probably expected a move but misjudged how fast Heidfeld would catch him. I suspect he wanted to cover the inside line but left it until later than he'd have liked because of that huge bump on the track. At any rate, that's inexcusable at this level.

Reactions (source AUTOSPORT)

Sat 09:37 Formula E - Beijing: An admirably restrained and professional Heidfeld is telling reporters that he's completely unhurt but was already complaining about Prost's driving over the radio even while flying through the air upside down.

He thinks the TV pictures make the apportioning of blame pretty clear...

Sat 09:43 Formula E - Beijing: Prost says he didn't see Heidfeld and reckons his rival was carrying far too much speed to make the corner anyway...

Amazing, crazy race!!! :D
Nice to see Heidfeld is unharmed. Silly mistake by Prost, really silly. Heidfeld and Montagny are the drivers of the day. Especially after Franck's interview, haha.

Really enjoyed the race and glad to see Heidfeld is alright after that shunt, it was obviously Prost's fault, he got a 10 places grid penalty for the next race .

Looking forward for Malaysia :)

Poor old Quick Nick, that move by Prost was very stupid and his ignorance afterwards even more.

So I'm still sitting on the fence about this Formula E series. I'm totally sold on the concept of an all-electric formula and I'm quite impressed that there has been so few reliability woes. I love the look of the cars and I'm quite enthusiastic about the line-up of drivers and the international involvement: it's great to have teams like Andretti and Aguri, even though the latter didn't cover themselves in glory on the first race. It's great to see racing between different generations of drivers, and I would surely love to see more F1 alumni there in the future.

Now for the cons: the cars are quite slow. They look slow, even on a street circuit, and the acceleration doesn't feel the least bit thrilling. Speaking of circuits, the Beijing layout was uninspiring and I hope we'll get to see some better ones. The "fan boost" is a gimmick which I absolutely abhor. And lastly, as a spec series I think it could use a different format, maybe with a second race in reverse grid ala GP2.
