phil1993's Driver by Driver ratings: 2009 rankings

Post by phil1993 » 10 Dec 2009, 19:36

So, 25 drivers started a race in 2009 and lets see how they fared. I'll rank the drivers from 25 to 1, starting with the bottom 13. You can agree with me, or disagree, most likely the latter. But please enjoy. (I've tried to make this more analytical and less humorous than before)

Rosberg 9??

Never in a lifetime mate. He was better than Rubens in relative comparison.

If Hamilton ends up in your top 3, which I assume he will than the whole thread is biased.

I also think Kimi was better than 8th. To win a race and get a series of 5 consecutive podiums in such an average car is quite an achievement, ice cream or not. :O

And I also think that Kovalainen did worse than Sutil.
Adrian had his moments of glory, whereas Heikki was in the shadow all year. The car came good after NÜrburgring, but Heiki didn´t.

Anyway this is just your opinion and expected nthng different from you. With all those after race comments which I hardly agreed this was expected from you.

NB: Before you shout and cry about fanboyism, don't, because every top 10 I've seen from British media have had Hamilton top and forgotten about his mistakes this year

Really? Wow now that´s "unconventional" to have him top.

In all honesty mate without any anger in between: I can´t see what he did so much better than the others this year. Before Nürburgring his car was poor and he didn´t get good results(due to the car). After Nürburgring his car came good and he got good results (due to the car). It´s basically the same with the Brawn guys.

I might turn into Captain Obvious for stating this, but: 90% of the driver´s results in F1 are based on their car´s performances.

Alonso and Rosberg and to a certain extent Kimi are the only drivers I can think of this season who "outperformed" their cars.

My explanation for the first two is: The Renault was c**p, I mean real c**p, but Fernando still achieved pretty good results (in comparison to the car´s crapyness), especially in qualifying.
And Nico used the Williams superbly outscoring his useless teammate 34,5 - 0. Kimi got that amazing series of podiums in a car that really was a handful (as we could see in the hands of an average driver like Fisi who was nowhere), but despite that and the fact that it wasn´t further developed after Nürburgring he still scored 48 points which I find pretty remarkable.

Okay blizzard, I can see where you're coming from, so explain to me why Kovalainen was so consistently c**p when Hamilton was good?
