Naughty Hamilton donuts
Spoiler:
Lewis Hamilton was lightly admonished after performing an illegal doughnut for the British public at the end of what could have been Silverstone's last Grand Prix.

Having won by more than a minute last year, the 24-year-old returned this weekend as reigning world champion but qualified next-to-last before being lapped on Sunday.

FIA stewards frown upon doughnuts, but Hamilton lit up his tyres after only delivering 16th place for his compatriots in the race.

It also annoyed his McLaren engineers, protective of the V8 unit that will have to be used elsewhere this season. Hamilton confirmed with a smile that "the team were moaning a little bit.

He had said after qualifying that the local fans "are the ones who are really helping me to get through" the misery of his current lack of competitiveness.

"I tried to show my appreciation on the (slowing down) lap and I had a little bit of fun," said Hamilton.

Well I'm glad he's promoting proper english and grammar to the general public.
On a non-ironic note, it's good when a driver or indeed sportsman writes updates for their fans. Best person to be a fan of ever = Roger Federer. You can tell he actually writes his own updates on the fan page; he took a camera onto centre court with no-one else and did a few pictures of himself while in one of his updates describing emotionally how all of his support and the particulars of the venue made him feel.
No, I'm not calmer. Just more jaded.

I'm just wondering what the problem was at Brawn. Tyre temps wouldn't come up it seems. I think they ran lower downforce for the straights but sacrificed grip in the fast corners, as Jenson was complaining that the car wouldn't go through Copse very well. The low tyre temps caused by lowered downforce caused low tyre pressures which made the Brawns bottom out and lose airflow into their diffusers. That's my idea anyway. Any thoughts?

yeah, because if you're buggered through Copse, you lose speed until you get to Stowe, as McLaren found out
