Organisers of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix have confirmed that the race will continue beyond its current contract.

The Yas Marina Circuit joined the calendar in 2009 and will host this weekend's season finale.

Its original deal ended in 2016 but the circuit has not confirmed that a new contract has been signed.

"This race and the Yas Marina Circuit has introduced Abu Dhabi and the United Arab Emirates to tens of millions of visitors and TV viewers from around the world," said Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Motorsports Management.

"We remain committed to continually delivering a better experience for the Formula 1 family and ticket holders.

"It is a mark of the quality of our partnership with Formula 1 World Championship that we both want to focus on looking forward and on delivering many more successful races."
