Pascal Wehrlein expressed disappointment at missing out on a testing day with Force India, but hailed the Mercedes W06 Hybrid as 'amazing.'

Wehrlein, who drove for both Force India and Mercedes pre-season, was scheduled to drive the VJM08 on Tuesday at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, but illness scuppered those plans.

Instead, he sat out the day's running though recovered sufficiently to pilot Mercedes' car on Wednesday.

"I am a bit better today but still not perfect," he said. "Yesterday I was really disappointed that I couldn’t drive the Force India car, but the doctor said on Monday that I had such a high fever that I could not drive on Tuesday.

"It is really good that it is better today and I can drive the car today."

Wehrlein, who occupies a reserve role with Mercedes, hailed the squad's car.

"It is amazing, you can really feel that the car is quick and the balance is good," he said.

"There are no big issues, for sure you can improve and I can improve, but you can really feel that the car is good, the balance is right and it is all together."
