Mark Webber has said that he would like to finally finish on the podium in the Australian Grand Prix.

Webber has finished on the podium thirty-four times in his F1 career but has yet to score a top three in his home race, with a best finish of fourth in 2012.

"I've been on the podiums at most tracks around the world and have won at quite a few circuits and Melbourne is one which I would like to add to that," he said.

"I really enjoy driving at the track, the atmosphere is fantastic. In general the people of Australia love the Grand Prix and are excited to have a world class event there."

Webber, who becomes the oldest driver on the 2013 grid following the departures of Michael Schumacher and Pedro de La Rosa, added that he is proud that Australia hosts such a world class event.

"I'm proud when we go there with F1 as an industry and that we put on such a great event. Of course I want to go there and perform well, so I'll be focusing on myself to get the job done. The champagne will taste a little bit better in Melbourne if I get on the podium there."
