W02 quickest in a straight line?

The Brackley based Mercedes GP might not have the best car during testing for 2011, but the W02 is quickest enough to top a straight line. That is the report from Auto Motor und Sport.

Norbert Haug of Mercedes GP admitted in Barcelona last weekend that car would struggle to finish in the top ten if a race were held now. But the reports from the German media insists that Mercedes GP has made a solid step forward last week and is actually the leader in terms of top speed.

Norbert Haug also admits that a straightline speed is an advantage and an important type rate for the contender of 2011 season,

"Because we were able to do more laps in Barcelona, we understand the car and the tyres better. And that brings us laptime," he said.

"If everything goes in the right direction, the Silver Arrow may surprise you," added Haug.

Following the cancellation of the pre-race test in Bahrain, the teams' last outing before Australia will take place in Barcelona next month.
