Vettel donuts 2World champion Sebastian Vettel has been reprimanded by the stewards after failing to observe the proper post-race protocol.

Vettel opted not to enter parc ferme but instead drove to the pits straight, where he completed a series of donuts and climbed from his Red Bull RB9.

The stewards decided to reprimand Vettel, but accepted that 'due to special circumstances' they accepted his version of events.

'The driver failed to proceed directly to the post race parc fermé as detailed under article 43.3 of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations'. read the stewards' report.

'Due to the special circumstance the Stewards accepted the explanation of the driver.'

Vettel's celebrations in India came after his 10th win of the 2013 season, which gave him an unassailable lead in the championship.

Red Bull was also fined 25,000 Euros as 'the team failed to instruct the driver sufficiently to return directly to post race parc fermé.

Vettel said that celebrating in such a manner after securing the title 'felt so right'.

"Rocky [Guillaume Roquelin] my engineer called for the usual procedure and I thought 'not this time'," he said.

"There are so many people in the main grandstand, I had to do it."

"Usually we are not allowed to but it felt so right."
