Vettel eclipsed Fernando Alonso by 0.105s, with Mark Webber a further tenth back in third.

Jean-Eric Vergne continued his impressive form in Belgium by setting the fourth fastest lap time, while Felipe Massa rounded out the top five.

Jenson Button was fastest through the first sector but was unable to string a lap together and set the sixth fastest time.

Sauber's Esteban Gutierrez was seventh, with Romain Grosjean, Nico Rosberg and Kimi Raikkonen completing the top 10.

The session was fairly uneventful, except for a couple of wide moments.

Paul Di Resta had a near miss at Turn 9 and did well to avoid an impact with the barriers.

Mercedes racer Lewis Hamilton was improving on his lap time but ran wide at the Bus Stop chicane. He ended the session in twelfth place.
