Vergne fortunate to escape uninjured

Jean-Eric Vergne was relieved to escape injury after an airborne moment during the Italian Grand Prix.

Vergne approached the Rettifilo chicane on Lap 9 but snapped sideways and was launched over the kerbs.

The French driver was running sixteenth at the time of the collision.

"I was taken from the accident to the medical centre, but apart from a bit of pain in my back and my head, I am fine", he said.

Vergne is unsure as to why the STR7 went out of control. It appeared that there was an issue with the suspension, but Toro Rosso later suggested it was driver error.

"All I can remember is that when I braked, I completely lost control of the back end of the car"
