Williams duo lament tough Monaco weekend

Williams pair Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa were left to lament on a tough weekend for the squad as neither driver scored points in Monaco. Bottas' two stop strategy failed to bear fruit as he took 14th place, while team-mate Massa was involved in a collision at the start which restricted him to 15th. "This has been a tough weekend that ended in an even tougher race," said Bottas. "We tried everything to try and get some points but with the pace we had it […]

Williams admits lack of Monaco pace

Williams drivers Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas admitted the squad simply lacks pace after neither made it through to Q3 at the Monaco Grand Prix. Massa was only 14th fastest while Bottas fell at the first hurdle and will line-up from 17th position. "There were no major issues during qualifying that caused us to be out of position; Monaco just isn’t a circuit that suits the characteristics of our car," said Massa. "We struggled throughout the day and found it hard to set the lap […]

No point running in wet - Massa

Felipe Massa says that predicted dry conditions for the remainder of the Monaco Grand Prix weekend led to an absence of track action when wet weather struck the second practice session on Thursday. Heavy rain hit Monte Carlo 15 minutes into the session and drivers remained in the pit lane until the final 10 minutes, before emerging for some exploratory laps. "It hasn’t been as productive a day as we would have liked as the rain restricted our running," said Massa, who ultimately placed 12th. […]

Bottas happy to split Ferrari drivers

Williams' Valtteri Bottas expressed happiness after he switched strategies mid-race and managed to split the Ferrari drivers for a second successive race. Having beaten Sebastian Vettel to fourth position at the most recent round in Bahrain, Bottas maintained fourth place across the course of the race, resisting a late charge from compatriot Kimi Raikkonen. "It feels good to split the Ferraris for a second race in a row and this has been another solid points haul for the team," he said. "Tyre life was better […]

Bottas rejects Ferrari speculation

Williams driver Valtteri Bottas has dismissed speculation linking him with a future seat at Ferrari. Recent rumours have suggested that the Finn had signed a pre-contract with the Italian squad, but Bottas rejected such ideas and says that he is focused on Williams. "I’ve heard plenty of stories and it is sometimes quite funny sometimes to hear those, because at in the end you know what the case is and what is not," he said. "There are a lot of people making up stuff and […]

Bottas pleased to hold off Vettel

Williams driver Valtteri Bottas says he was pleased to hold off Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel as he claimed his best result of the season at the Bahrain Grand Prix. Vettel had to make an extra stop for a front wing change after running wide at the final corner and emerged from the pits behind Bottas. Bottas confident but sure of more progress

Valtteri Bottas described his day of practice ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix as 'good' but believes that Williams can still make further progress. Bottas set the fifth best time in the second practice session, just 0.003s behind Ferrari rival Sebastian Vettel. But the Finn is sure that Williams can make more steps prior to qualifying at the Sakhir circuit. "It has been a good Friday," he said. Bottas downbeat over Ferrari challenge

Williams' Valtteri Bottas says that it will be difficult for the squad to challenge Ferrari during the Chinese Grand Prix, despite splitting the Italian team's cars in qualifying. Felipe Massa and Bottas qualified in fourth and fifth places to edge ahead of Kimi Raikkonen, but Bottas believes that Williams will be unable to take the fight to Ferrari in race trim. "Obviously [it's] a good step from practice but from Q2 onwards I struggled with rear stability compared to all the weekend," said Bottas. "Our […]

Massa's spin caused by rear wing stall

Williams says that Felipe Massa's premature exit from the second practice session for the Chinese Grand Prix was caused by a rear wing stall on his FW37. Massa was on his flying lap during the session when his car spun out of control under braking for the hairpin in the final sector. Massa spun off the circuit and clipped the barriers, causing minor damage to the front wing and resulting in the session being stopped while his car was retrieved. "The first session went to […]

Bottas sure he will be cleared to race

Williams driver Valtteri Bottas is sure that he will be deemed fit to race in Malaysia this weekend after sitting out the first round of the year in Australia.
