Hamilton cruises to 50th F1 victory

Lewis Hamilton kept his slim title hopes alive as he ended a five-race drought with victory in the US Grand Prix, with team-mate and championship leader Nico Rosberg finishing second. Hamilton held off Rosberg and Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo on the ascent to Turn 1, and his feathers were unruffled thereafter, eventually coming home 4.5 seconds clear of his title rival as he coasted to the chequered flag. The win was Hamilton's fifth on US soil, and fourth in Austin, equalling Michael Schumacher's record, though […]

Hamilton beats Rosberg to Austin pole

Lewis Hamilton got the better of Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg to take a morale-boosting pole position for the United States Grand Prix in Texas. Hamilton clocked a 1:34.999 on his final run in Q3 to out-pace championship leader Rosberg by two tenths of a second, but the Englishman knows a good start is essential if he is to kick-start a monumental fightback in the remaining races. Vettel: Ferrari was on ‘back foot’

Sebastian Vettel is not happy with how the first two practice sessions at the Circuit of the Americas went for him after a damaged wing cost him track time in FP1 and performance in FP2. The German is confident the pace will be better on Saturday as Ferrari couldn’t show its full potential on Friday. A trip over the kerbs during the first session damaged some front end aero components and the right rearview mirror on his SF16-H which required repairs before he was able […]

Poor debut for Haas on home soil

Haas did not enjoy a positive debut on home soil after experiencing a series of issues on Friday with the main one being the rear brake drum’s winglets falling off the car. Romain Grosjean’s best time in FP1 was a lap of 1:40.826 which put him 14th overall, while Esteban Gutiérrez slotted just behind his team mate. […]

How Mercedes avoided Red Bull's trap

The US Grand Prix was not one of the most exciting races of the season, but the strategic side was very interesting, with Red Bull continuing to probe Mercedes in a chess game; they might have split the two Silver Arrows had they had more luck with a Virtual Safety Car, triggered by one of their drivers to the detriment of the other. Meanwhile further back some important results were achieved for Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz by a combination of brilliant driving and decision-making. […]

Rosberg aiming for wins to end season

Nico Rosberg says he is gunning for victories after admitting that his prospects of beating Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton to the title are slim.
