Sainz: Eighth not reflective of Toro Rosso chassis

Carlos Sainz Jr. says that Toro Rosso's position in the Constructors' championship masks the strength of the squad's STR10 chassis. Toro Rosso is currently in eighth place in the standings, with 19 points, but has regularly shown flashes of speed in practice and qualifying, before suffering from a lack of race pace or reliability issues. Sainz's team-mate, Max Verstappen, suggested at last weekend's British Grand Prix that the Italian outfit has the second best chassis and the Spaniard reckons that Toro Rosso's place in the […]

Ricciardo, Sainz halted by suspected electrical problem

Daniel Ricciardo says an electrical problem in his Red Bull RB11 ended his British Grand Prix as his difficult string of races continued at Silverstone. Ricciardo was running inside the top 10 when he suffered a loss of power, before ultimately retiring from the race. Ricciardo's retirement means he has scored just a single point across the last three races. "I was really optimistic and excited for this weekend but it didn’t work out for us on the day," said Ricciardo. "We suffered an electrical […]

Max Verstappen was unable to explain why he suffered from a lack of pace during Saturday's qualifying session for the British Grand Prix. Verstappen had been comfortably inside the top 10 during practice sessions across the weekend but was vocal on the team radio about his ill-handling Toro Rosso STR10 before dropping out in Q2. Verstappen will start the race at Silverstone from 13th position on the grid. "To be honest, I don’t really know what happened in today’s qualifying session, because we’ve been really […]

Verstappen praises Toro Rosso chassis

Max Verstappen has praised the chassis of his Toro Rosso STR10, believing it to be second best only to Mercedes. Toro Rosso is currently eighth in the Constructors' championship but the Dutch rookie believes that the squad is having to heavily compromise its chassis in order to accommodate its lack of power. "Behind the Mercedes," Verstappen said, when asked to rank Toro Rosso's chassis. "When you have a fast engine, your chassis gets better as well. You sometimes go over the limit a bit, trying […]

Verstappen frustrated by information overload

Toro Rosso youngster Max Verstappen says Formula 1 needs to go back to basis, claiming that drivers are having to focus too much on technical information. Toro Rosso unsurprised by struggle

Verstappen hoping for safety car assistance

Max Verstappen joked that he will require the intervention of the Safety Car if he is to salvage points at the Canadian Grand Prix. Verstappen will start from 19th position following a 15 place grid penalty - 10 positions for an engine change and five for hitting Romain Grosjean in Monaco. As he cannot serve the entire penalty, he will be handed a 10 second time penalty in the race. "I knew it was coming so you just deal with it and try and make […]
