Hamilton's victory, an open goal from Ferrari

This was one of the best races from a race strategy point of view for years. Like last year’s Spanish Grand Prix, strategy decided the outcome, but the two main protagonists, Lewis Hamilton and Sebastian Vettel also surpassed themselves, with heroic drives, making it a truly memorable race. Here we will analyse the momentous decisions that dictated the outcome, at how the pendulum swung from one driver to another several times. And we will also look at how the lowly Sauber team managed to score its […]

Raikkonen:

Kimi Raikkonen has failed to finish the Spanish Grand Prix after being involved in a collision on the opening lap. The Scuderia Ferrari driver was tapped from behind at the first corner by Valtteri Bottas and that pushed him into Max Verstappen, which meant the Finn had to pull over to the side of the track with broken front left suspension. Raikkonen reckons he did not see the footage of the incident, but is sure that he left Bottas enough room going into the corner. "I got hit […]

Hülkenberg:

Despite having pounded in countless laps of the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, the Spanish Grand Prix venue hasn’t been too kind to Nico Hülkenberg in the past, with tenth place finishes in 2012 and 2014 the best in his back catalogue. The German driver returns to Barcelona this hoping to break the jinx.  "I’m feeling good. The car is improving at every race and we can deliver. 2017 Spanish Grand PrixView

Formula One paddock  moves to Spain this weekend for the first European race of the year. The Circuit de Barcelona – Catalunya is considered to be very representative of all the tracks Formula One visits, making it an ideal facility for testing. The track has only two sub-100 kph turns, and the layout’s mix of medium- and high-speed corners allows teams to gauge their car’s aerodynamic efficiency. Teams spent two weeks testing at the circuit prior to the start of the season. However, familiarity does not […]
