Hamilton is quicker, admits Rosberg

Nico Rosberg has admitted that Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton deserved pole position for the Russian Grand Prix after having the edge for much of the weekend. Hamilton lapped the Sochi Autodrom two-tenths of a second faster than Rosberg, with the German somewhat fortunate to hold on to second place after Valtteri Bottas made an error. "Today Lewis was quicker, all weekend really," said Rosberg. "I've been working hard to get close but didn't manage to get closer than those two tenths now, but that's the […]

Hamilton takes control in final practice

Lewis Hamilton set a commanding pace during the final practice session for this weekend’s Russian Grand Prix at the Sochi Autodrom. Hamilton’s time of 1:38.726 was comfortably faster than his nearest rivals, although the Brit spun at the penultimate corner when he was on course to beat his own lap. Hamilton thus missed the final few minutes of the session as he destroyed his tyres and at that moment he held an advantage of almost a second. Nearest rivals Nico Rosberg and Valtteri Bottas subsequently […]

One lap tyre pace crucial - Bottas

Valtteri Bottas says that getting tyres into their operating window over one lap will be challenging, with tyre preservation not being an issue during practice. Bottas missed some of the first session due to a tyre blanket malfunctioning and ended the day in fifth place. "I’m positively surprised by the track as it’s more challenging than I expected with quite a few technical sections, especially the final sector and I found it enjoyable to drive," he said. "The asphalt is quite smooth and combined with […]
