Grosjean delighted with first point finish of 2017

For the second straight race, Haas F1 Team scored a point-paying result as Romain Grosjean delivered an eighth-place finish at the Bahrain Grand Prix. The Frenchman started ninth in the 57-lap race around the bahrain International Circuit and held his position amid the chaotic start, a lap-16 restart and two pit stops. After his final stop at the end of lap 32, where Grosjean swapped his Pirelli P Zero Red supersoft tires for a new set of Yellow softs, he used the fresh rubber to overtake the Toro […]

Hamilton held the previous track qualifying record of 1:29.493 set last year in Q3, and Bottas’ pole-winning time beat it by .724 of a second. Vettel tops opening practice sessions

The third round of the 2017 FIA Formula One World Championship began with two practice sessions at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir, as teams prepared for the Bahrain Grand Prix on Sunday. Two 90-minute sessions – FP1 and FP2 – on the 5.412-kilometer track took place amid extremely hot conditions, a marked contrast following the cold, rain-soaked Chinese Grand Prix last weekend in Shanghai.  Leading the way in FP1 was Scuderia Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel, whose fastest lap of 1:32.697 was .400 of a second […]

Bahrain Grand PrixView

Just a few days after the chequered flag fell in China, Formula 1 finds itself in Bahrain for the fourth round of the championship, the last of the early season ‘flyaway’ races prior to the sport’s return to Europe. Mercedes responded to Ferrari’s Malaysian victory by claiming a 1-2 finish in China, though Nico Rosberg was agitated by the perceived approach his team-mate, Lewis Hamilton, took at the front of the pack, believing that his race was compromised. Last year, the duo embarked on an […]

Alonso reckons 2014 cars too slow

Ferrari driver Fernando Alonso says that the 2014 specification Formula 1 cars are too slow. Alonso, who finished the opening two races in fourth places, believes that the slower lap times compared to recent seasons have removed some of the thrill for drivers. "It is still exciting because at the end of the day you are competing against the others," he said. "That is the DNA of the driver, the competition. If we drive go-karts, we enjoy so much and we are driving at 50km/h […]

Raikkonen: Ferrari must apply knowledge

Kimi Raikkonen says that Ferrari must apply what they have learned across the opening two races of 2014 into practice at this weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix. Raikkonen struggled in the season-opening race in Australia on his way to seventh but showed better pace across the weekend in Malaysia. The Finn's race was ultimately compromised by an early collision with Kevin Magnussen, from which Raikkonen could only recover to 12th place in his damaged F14T. "After testing in Bahrain in the winter, we now go back […]

Kobayashi aiming for reliable performance in Bahrain

Kamui Kobayashi says he is hoping for a reliable outing at this weekend's Bahrain Grand Prix. Kobayashi endured a difficult time in Australia due to a lack of running in practice before a first corner collision. Last weekend in Malaysia, the Japanese racer again had minimal running in practice but went on to finish the race in 13th place. Kobayashi reckons Caterham can continue their upwards momentum this weekend in Bahrain. "We now have something to build on, both in terms of performance and from […]
