After a highly frustrating early exit from the Italian Grand Prix Jolyon Palmer is hoping for a Singapore slingshot on the streets of Marina Bay. Spa and Monza were not the easiest tracks for Renault but Palmer believes Singapore offers more of an opportunity for the team. The GP2 champion reckons he is driving better than ever at the moment and is keen to return to a track where he was victorious in the past. “I love Singapore and it’s a totally different challenge from […]
Kevin Magnussen is confident he will be allowed to race in the Italian Grand Prix this weekend as he feels already recovered from the nasty crash at Spa-Francorchamps last Sunday. Renault’s driver ran over a kerb at the exit of Eau Rouge during the Belgian Grand Prix and went heavily into the barriers. He got out of the car unaided but was taken to the medical center as a precaution. Initial checks revealed a cut to his left ankle and he was taken to a […]

Renault drivers Kevin Magnussen and Jolyon Palmer both retired from the British Grand Prix due to worsening gearbox problems with the RS.16. Renault endured another troublesome performance at Silverstone as neither Magnussen nor Palmer challenged for the top 10 before retiring. Palmer was also skewered by an issue in the pit lane as neither driver reached the chequered flag. "We tried our best but unfortunately we were just not quick enough today," said Magnussen. "We suspected something might be wrong with the gearbox towards the […]
Renault rookie Jolyon Palmer is optimistic that he can deliver his first Formula 1 points this weekend as he prepares to tackle the British Grand Prix for the first time. Palmer secured 11th place on his debut in Australia, as well as progression to Q2, but has yet to repeat such a result since, having been eliminated from the first hurdle of qualifying across the past eight races. Having out-raced Renault team-mate Kevin Magnussen at the preceding roudn in Austria, Palmer is confident that he […]
Esteban Ocon will receive his second practice run of the season with Renault during this weekend's opening session for the British Grand Prix. Ocon conducted his first outing in the RS.16 at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya but mechanical gremlins restricted the reigning GP3 champion to just a handful of laps. Ocon, who carried out a full day of testing in the car after the Spanish Grand Prix, will now return to action during Friday's opening 90 minute session at Silverstone. Ocon, who is a Mercedes […]
Jolyon Palmer is confident that he and Renault can end their barren run after he collected 12th position at the Austrian Grand Prix. Palmer started from 20th position on the grid but worked his way forwards to finish just a couple of places outside of the top 10, as he chases his first points in the sport. "I’m quite happy with the race," said the rookie, as he beat team-mate Kevin Magnussen. "We just needed that little bit of extra luck and we could have […]
Renault's Jolyon Palmer, Manor's Rio Haryanto and Sauber's Felipe Nasr have all been handed grid penalties for the Austrian Grand Prix after failing to slow sufficiently for yellow flags in Q1. The trio were deemed to have now slowed sufficiently when the yellow flags were displayed after Toro Rosso's Carlos Sainz Jr. suffered an engine failure during the closing moments of the session. All handed three-place penalties, meaning Palmer drops from 18th to 20th, Haryanto from 19th to 21st while Nasr stays at the back. […]
Kevin Magnussen believes that Renault has made progress during practice in the Austrian Grand Prix after a difficult showing in Baku. Renault struggled for one-lap pace at the European Grand Prix with Magnussen and team-mate Jolyon Palmer the slowest two drivers during qualifying. However, Magnussen was 14th fastest during the second session at the Red Bull Ring, with Palmer in 16th place. "A pretty good day," Magnussen said when asked for his thoughts. "We made some positive improvement with the car and now have better […]
Jolyon Palmer believes Renault had the potential to be substantially quicker during qualifying for the European Grand Prix, as he finished at the back of the field. Palmer was the slowest of the 22 drivers during the first knockout session at the Baku City Circuit, the seventh successive race in which the rookie has been eliminated at the first hurdle. However, Palmer reckons more was possible across the course of a lap. "The potential is there for a huge amount more but it wasn’t to […]
Kevin Magnussen will race with Renault's spare chassis at the Canadian Grand Prix after he crashed out of the final practice session on Saturday. Magnussen lost control of his RS.16 through Turn 7 and hit the wall on the exit of the corner, sustaining substantial damage to the left-hand side of the car in the process. Magnussen was unable to participate in qualifying and is set to start Sunday's race from the pit lane. "Obviously I wanted to be driving rather than watching qualifying," he […]
