F1 return 'nearly impossible' admits Kubica

Robert Kubica has admitted it is unlikely he will ever return to formula one. Ferrari boss Stefano Domenicali admitted recently that, prior to the Pole's horror rally crash of early 2011, Kubica was a front runner to become a driver for the fabled Italian team. "Unfortunately, I don't think he will be back," said Domenicali, referring to the limited mobility of 28-year-old Kubica's right arm, which was almost severed in the crash. Indeed, former BMW and Renault driver Kubica admitted in an interview with the […]

Ecclestone: Kubica would have replaced Massa

If not for Robert Kubica's predicament, Felipe Massa would have lost his Ferrari seat by now. That is the view of F1 chief executive Bernie Ecclestone. He told Austria's Der Spiegel that Kubica, still recovering from horror injuries sustained in a rally crash in February last year, would have replace the struggling Brazilian Massa. "I think, for them (Ferrari), it's a question of alternatives," said Ecclestone. "Who, of those available to them, are better than Massa? "I am very confident that Robert Kubica would be […]

Van der Garde has, however, finished just fifth in this year's GP2 championship after a poor final two rounds in Belgium and Italy.
