Ferrari president: Raikkonen and Alonso 'could be dangerous'

Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo has conceded that pairing Kimi Raikkonen with Fernando Alonso for the 2014 season 'could be dangerous'. Ferrari has altered its driver line-up for the first time since the start of 2010 as Raikkonen returns to the team with which he won the 2007 championship, replacing Felipe Massa. Alonso has enjoyed priority over Massa since 2010 and, with Raikkonen also a world champion, Di Montezemolo admits that it is a risky strategy for Ferrari. "Putting together Alonso and Raikkonen could be […]

Haug doubts Mercedes can break Vettel dominance

Norbert Haug, the former Mercedes competition boss, has bad news for the hopeful German marque. To now be headed by Paddy Lowe, Toto Wolff and Niki Lauda, Mercedes is bullish about its 2014 hopes, having finished second in 2013 to the runaway champion team, Red Bull. "For everyone and for me the target is to win the world championship, both championships," driver Lewis Hamilton told the British broadcaster Sky after last weekend's 2013 finale in Brazil. "If we don't do it naturally there will be […]

Marko: Vettel 'better than Hamilton and Rosberg combined'

Sebastian Vettel is single-handedly better than Mercedes' entire driver lineup. That is the provocative claim of Red Bull's always blunt and outspoken Dr Helmut Marko, as Austin polesitter Vettel prepares to break another record on Sunday. Another win on Sunday would be the dominant German's eighth on the trot, breaking the old record set by his countryman Michael Schumacher. Still, many do not give new quadruple world champion Vettel the credit that Marko believes he deserves. "I always hear Mercedes say they have the best […]
