Ferrari has confirmed that Pedro de la Rosa and Jules Bianchi will test for the team in Bahrain next week, rather than 2014 race drivers Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen. Ferrari is one of four teams set to participate in the test, which is being organised by tyre supplier Pirelli. The data management and the daily schedule will be defined by Pirelli, so that no one team gains a competitive advantage for 2014. Spaniard de la Rosa entered over 100 races in Formula 1 between […]
Lotus chairman Gerard Lopez says his team will pay tribute to the victims of Wednesday's railway accident, which happened in the Galician region of Spain. At least 80 people were killed when the train left the rails near the Spanish town of Santiago de Compostela. As a mark of respect, the Galician flag will appear on both E21s in Hungary this weekend. "Following the tragic accident on Wednesday 24th July 2013 involving the passenger train in Galicia, I and all within Lotus F1 Team would […]
Mark Webber has said that he would like to finally finish on the podium in the Australian Grand Prix. Webber has finished on the podium thirty-four times in his F1 career but has yet to score a top three in his home race, with a best finish of fourth in 2012. "I've been on the podiums at most tracks around the world and have won at quite a few circuits and Melbourne is one which I would like to add to that," he said. "I […]
Ferrari test driver Pedro de la Rosa says that his time in the F138 on the final day of testing in Jerez will help improve the Scuderia's simulator. De la Rosa completed 51 laps of the Spanish circuit, with his morning disrupted by a gearbox failure. "All in all it's been a positive day for me, I finally got a feel for the car and that will be very important when it comes to comparing the data with the simulator as we develop the car," […]
[singlepic id=8771 w=320 h=240 float=right]Fernando Alonso has said that it is preferable for him to focus on the final two pre-season tests in Barcelona. Alonso will skip the first test in Jerez as Felipe Massa and Pedro de La Rosa take to the Spanish circuit next week. "The first test is a general test in which one checks that all the components are put together properly", he said at the launch of the F138. "Given the short amount of time available, we have decided that […]
Fernando Alonso will miss the first pre-season test at Jerez. The Ferrari driver, who finished second to Sebastian Vettel in 2012, will not drive the 2013 car until February 19th in Barcelona. "Fernando Alonso will intensify his physical training, in preparation for a first part of the season which, as usual will be very demanding, both because of the long distances involved between the various Grands Prix and because of the variety of weather conditions encountered from Melbourne to Sakhir, with Sepang and Shanghai in […]
Fernando Alonso insists that there is 'no obligation to win' but nevertheless is targeting another championship challenge. Alonso joined Ferrari at the start of 2010 and has been in the running for the title at the final round of two seasons - only to lose out to Sebastian Vettel twice. "I don’t think there is necessarily an obligation to win," Alonso told the media at Ferrari's annual Wrooom event. "Sport means sacrifice, work, enjoyment of what one does and for the past three years, I’ve been fortunate […]
Former HRT driver Pedro de La Rosa has joined Ferrari. The Spaniard, 41, will act as a development driver, assisting the team with their simulator. De La Rosa joined McLaren at the start of 2003, acting as their test and reserve driver until 2009, rejoining briefly in 2011. He scored a podium in the 2006 Hungarian Grand Prix. De La Rosa joins fellow Spaniards Fernando Alonso and Marc Gene at the Maranello based team. "His experience on the simulator will be very useful for the […]
