Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen has suggested that Red Bull rival Daniel Ricciardo should have been penalised after the pair made contact during the Monaco Grand Prix. Raikkonen harried Ricciardo across the first part of the race and passed his rival through the pit stop phase. Ricciardo fought back and the pair made contact at Mirabeau, with Raikkonen tipped wide by Ricciardo, who went on to beat the Finn to fifth position. "We knew that after starting from sixth position it would have been a difficult […]
Kimi Raikkonen believes he will pay a 'big price' after another sub-par effort during qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix. Raikkonen, who crashed out of final practice after lightly hitting the wall on the exit of Sainte Devote, qualified in sixth position, three places behind team-mate Sebastian Vettel. "I don’t think that the accident of this morning affected my qualifying," he said. "My car has been working pretty well so far, apart from the fact that it was hard to get the tires working . […]
Kimi Raikkonen is hopeful that tyre warm-up will improve across the remainder of the Monaco Grand Prix weekend, after admitting that it was a minor issue for him during Thursday's practice sessions. Raikkonen was eighth quickest in the opening practice session and claimed fourth in a second session which was interrupted by the arrival of heavy rain. "The feeling with the car today was pretty okay, obviously there are some small issues but they are more related to the tyres: it’s difficult to make them […]
Kimi Raikkonen reckons that Ferrari can make gains across the rest of the weekend in Spain after labelling free practice for the race as 'strange'. Raikkonen was fourth fastest during the second session at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya but says he was not hugely enthused with the handling of his SF15-T. "It was quite a strange day," he said. "The position and lap times were not too bad, but I was not completely happy with the handling of the car. "I don’t know if it […]
At least for now, Ferrari is leaving the door slightly ajar for Lewis Hamilton. After declaring that Hamilton would make a great teammate for Sebastian Vettel next year, Bernie Ecclestone backtracked just ahead of the race in Bahrain. "No," the F1 supremo told British television Sky. "He's happy where he is." But Mercedes and Hamilton are yet to agree terms for a new contract beyond 2015, and rumours in Bahrain about a potential move to Ferrari were widespread. That, however, was before Kimi Raikkonen on […]
Kimi Raikkonen says there is more to come from Ferrari after he ended his podium drought at the Bahrain Grand Prix. Raikkonen took advantage of a late brake problem to move into second position to stand on the podium for the first time since he raced for Lotus in 2013. Both Mercedes drivers used the Prime tyre for the final stint of the race but Raikkonen used the Prime compound during the second segment of the race, allowing him to switch to the Options for […]
Lewis Hamilton controlled proceedings in Bahrain to claim his third victory of the season as Kimi Raikkonen beat Nico Rosberg to second position. Hamilton was serene up front but Raikkonen used an alternate strategy to close the gap on Rosberg before passing him on the penultimate lap, with both Mercedes drivers suffering from brake issues towards the end of the race. Hamilton retained the lead at the start but Rosberg challenged Sebastian Vettel into Turn 1, in doing so allowing Räikkönen to go around the […]
Kimi Raikkonen headed a Ferrari 1-2 during a first practice session which took place in very hot conditions in Bahrain. Raikkonen posted a 1:37.827 on the Medium tyres as the track conditions improved as the session wore on. Several drivers waited until the final minutes of the session before posting their best times, saving a second set of tyres until the track temperature cooled somewhat. Raikkonen's time was two-tenths of a second quicker than that achieved by Sebastian Vettel, who suffered from power unit issues […]
Sebastian Vettel says he is 'happy' as he continued Ferrari's fine start to the 2015 season with third place in China. Vettel, who won in Malaysia, remained within touching distance of Nico Rosberg during the second stint of the race before dropping back and settling for third position. Vettel remains in second place in the Drivers' championship, 13 points behind Lewis Hamilton. "All in all we can be really happy, said Vettel. "It is only race three and the steps we have made so far […]
Kimi Raikkonen believes that Ferrari has made progress in 2015 and can provide a much stronger challenge to Mercedes compared to last year. Raikkonen qualified in fifth position in Australia but had to retire after his second pit stop when his wheel was not firmly attached. "Obviously we are in a much better position than we were say even at the end of last year so in that way it's a nice place to be but obviously we still have to improve quite a bit," […]
Sebastian Vettel cut an upbeat figure after taking a podium for Ferrari on his debut for the team in Australia. Vettel beat Felipe Massa to third position to collect 15 championship points and afterwards labelled Ferrari the most improved team over the winter. "The start was not the best, there was too much wheelspin and when I tried to hold the inside line, my tyres were still too cold," he said. "We had a great race strategy, which allowed us to jump the Williams, which had […]
Ferrari drivers Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen were left to lament mistakes during their hot laps in the final part of qualifying for the Australian Grand Prix. Vettel and Raikkonen will line up in fourth and fifth places for the race, though both drivers reckon they made errors which cost them a chance of claiming third position. "It’s a shame that third place escaped us, as that would have made us the first team behind Mercedes, but it wasn’t by much and, after all the […]
