Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo believes that Ferrari came out of the first test at Jerez 'pretty strong' after the Italian team topped the timesheets at the Spanish circuit. Kimi Raikkonen set the quickest time of the week while Ricciardo's former team-mate, Sebastian Vettel, finished both of his days in the SF15--T atop the times. "The first test you try to just worry about yourself, but of course we're aware of what Mercedes did, and the lap time Ferrari put down," Ricciardo told the Australian Grand […]

Romain Grosjean says he is encouraged by Lotus's E23 Hybrid after he sampled the car for the first time on the final day of the Jerez test. Grosjean posted the sixth quickest time and accrued 53 laps before the power unit shut down, forcing the Frenchman to abandon running for the rest of the day. But despite his truncated day the Frenchman was upbeat over Lotus' package. "My first impressions of the E23 Hybrid are good," he said. "Both the power unit and the chassis […]

Ricciardo encouraged despite disrupted day

Daniel Ricciardo says he is encouraged by Red Bull's RB11 despite suffering from mechanical gremlins on the third day of testing at Jerez. Ricciardo completed 48 laps, over 100 fewer than Nico Rosberg, on his way to the seventh quickest time at the Spanish testing venue. Red Bull detected an issue with the power unit in the RB11, forcing them to change it before Ricciardo was able to return to the track. "Although we were limited with running today, we got some long runs together […]

"We expected this test to be tricky - and the next two days probably won’t be plain sailing, either," said the Briton. "But people have short memories . Look at last winter - the first test […]

Vettel, who also topped the times on Sunday, ended the day with a time of 1:20.984 and racked up 89 laps at the Spanish venue. "It’s too soon to give a verdict on the true level of this car, especially as we can’t make a comparison with the other teams, who can be running different programmes," said Vettel after his second day in the […]

"That was a satisfying day," he said. "We did a lot of laps and I got a feel for the car quite quickly. We're in the first days of testing so it never feels that […]

Kvyat shrugs off testing shunt

Daniil Kvyat shrugged off a testing accident which scuppered his and Red Bull's running on the second day of testing at Jerez. Kvyat, driving for Red Bull for the first time, made a mistake during the early stages of the day and damaged the front wing pillar. With Red Bull not having a replacement, it means that Kvyat completed just 18 laps - most of them installation laps - without a front wing. "It was not ideal today, sometimes mistakes happen and there’s nothing you […]
