Ferrari hits out at Mercedes verdict

Ferrari's 'Horse Whisperer' column has expressed their dissatisfaction with the penalty handed out to Mercedes by the International Tribunal. Mercedes received a reprimand and has been banned from taking part in July's three day young driver test at Silverstone. Ferrari has not made an official comment regarding the verdict of the International Tribunal, but under a column entitled 'Crime and Punishment (but make it a light one)', the 'Horse Whisperer' expressed confusion over the decision. "We learned, that even if one is guilty and in […]

Red Bull wanted $100m fine for Mercedes

The curious outcome of the 'test-gate' saga is that, although found guilty of breaking the rules, Mercedes is reacting with relief at the outcome of the international tribunal' verdict. And Ferrari, though its ascerbic 'Horse Whisperer' column, and fellow protester Red Bull, sound like the losers, angry that their German rival is only banned from the forthcoming young drivers' test. Indeed, Austrians Niki Lauda - Mercedes chairman - and Red Bull's Dr Helmut Marko made a bet in the midst of the scandal in which […]

Ferrari joins Lotus in tyre tweak criticism

Ferrari has joined Lotus in criticising Pirelli's mid-season tyre tweak. Following early-season criticism, culminating in the furore after Barcelona recently, Pirelli announced it is making key changes to its controversial 2013 tyres for next month's Canadian grand prix and beyond. Lotus team boss Eric Boullier was the first to react, likening the change to widening football goals because one team was always striking the post. Now, in the anonymous 'Horse Whisperer' column posted on the official Ferrari website, Ferrari has lashed out at those who claim […]

Vettel 'can't imagine' leaving Red Bull yet

Sebastian Vettel has now weighed into the new saga about his future beyond 2013, insisting he is "not thinking" about a reported switch to Ferrari. Some have suggested the rumour is a ploy by Ferrari to destabilise the German's current team Red Bull, as the reigning champions look set to dominate the final part of the 2012 season. Vettel, who has won the last three grands prix on the trot and is now 6 points ahead of Ferrari's Fernando Alonso, told Auto Bild: "I am […]

Massa insists 'no reason' to leave Ferrari

Felipe Massa insists there will be "no reason" to leave Ferrari if he keeps up his improved form in 2012. Last week, the Maranello team denied it is in a "hurry" to decide the identity of Fernando Alonso's teammate for 2013. The team's website columnist The Horse Whisperer also slammed the "rumourmongers" who have speculated about the likely candidates. "Now coming into bloom are a whole list of possible and potential replacements, with a list of names from A to Z, something Ferrari is well […]

Ferrari denies Alonso paid EUR 30m

Ferrari has denied claims it pays Fernando Alonso a cool EUR 30 million per season. A French publication called Business Book GP 2012 had claimed the Spaniard is easily F1's highest paid driver, with earnings almost equal to McLaren's drivers put together. "A shame then that it's another case of utter balderdash," Ferrari's anonymous website reporter known as The Horse Whisperer said. The columnist said Ferrari is "always put on top" in money matters, but "the reality is very different". The famous Italian team has […]

Ferrari corrects Montezemolo's F1 'quit threat'

Ferrari back-pedalled on Monday after comments by its president Luca di Montezemolo were reported as a formula one "quit threat". Railing against F1's emphasis on aerodynamic technology, the absence of 'customer car' rules and private testing, Montezemolo told reporters at the weekend that "without Ferrari there is no formula one". "We can be very patient but there are precise conditions for us to continue with our work," he was quoted as saying. "If formula one still wants Ferrari it must change and go back to […]

Ferrari: Smedley radio call not malicious

Ferrari insists Felipe Massa's engineer Rob Smedley was not "malicious" when he ordered the Brazilian to "destroy" Lewis Hamilton's race recently in Singapore. A trio of paddock regulars this week have already played down the content of the radio call that preceded Massa colliding with McLaren's Hamilton during the night race just over a week ago. But some publications, notably "English daily papers" according to Ferrari's online columnist The Horse Whisperer, suspected a sinister motive. "It's true that (Smedley) was caught up in the heat […]
