French broadcaster TF1 not in Bahrain

Another television broadcaster has pulled out of this weekend's Bahrain grand prix. It had already emerged that Sky Deutschland, MTV3 Finland and Japan's Fuji TV would not be reporting from the scene of the race in the troubled island Kingdom. Now, it emerges that the travelling regulars for France's TF1 are not in Bahrain either. The French-language RMC Sport reported that, like the other broadcasters, the decision was taken "because of the unstable situation" in Bahrain. It has also emerged that Stefano Mancini, the regular […]

Whiting says 2012 exhaust layouts 'legal'

Charlie Whiting has given the 2012 cars at the Jerez test this week an early clean bill of health. It was reported the FIA's technical delegate decided to attend the opening test of the 2012 pre-season amid speculation the teams may have overstepped the mark with their new exhaust layouts. Exhaust-blown diffusers have been banned for this season, but the early signs were that teams had been clever in their interpretation of the new rules to maintain an aerodynamic benefit. Loeb still ahead in Monte Carlo

Sebastien Loeb continues to lead the Monte Carlo Rally after a third day of action, the quietest day of the rally so far. The rally now moves from Valence in Southern France to Monte Carlo, where the bulk of the remaining stages take place. With Loeb driving conservatively, it allowed new team mate Mikko Hirvonen to set a few fastest times. The Finn, who had been struggling, relished the conditions on SS12 and SS13 to close the gap to Petter Solberg. Dani Sordo holds second […]

The local Walloon government is seeking clarity about the future of the fabled Belgian grand prix at Spa-Francorchamps within "four or five weeks". Jean-Claude Marcourt, the government's economics minister, was responding on Tuesday in a parliamentary committee, following media reports that France looks set to return to F1 in 2013. Those reports suggested France's Paul Ricard circuit will share a single alternating annual date with Spa, the fabled Belgian venue. Marcourt explained that, in a bid to reduce costs, the government had last year begun […]
