Nasr: Sauber has surpassed expectations in 2015

Felipe Nasr says that Sauber has surpassed expectations in 2015 after recovering from its worst ever season in Formula 1. Sauber failed to score a point last year and slumped to 10th in the standings, but this season have amassed 36 points and lie eighth in the championship. "If you look back at last year, they didn’t score any points in the season and we have surpassed any expectations for this season scoring quite a good amount of points when we could, when we had […]

The team is set to receive an engine update from Ferrari for the next race in Belgium, with an aerodynamic package scheduled to be introduced in Singapore. […]

Nasr rues missed opportunity for points

Felipe Nasr believes that Sauber missed out on an opportunity to return to the points at Silverstone, after he was unable to race due to a gearbox problem. Nasr slowed on his reconnaissance lap to the grid before stopping on the approach to Stowe corner. Marshals pushed Nasr's car back to the pit lane but Sauber quickly diagnosed a terminal gearbox problem, preventing him from joining the race. Sauber had initially struggled for pace at Silverstone, with Nasr eliminated in Q1, but the Brazilian says […]

Ericsson: Points were in the bag

Marcus Ericsson said he was disappointed to miss out on a return to the points paying positions after he was classified in 11th place at the British Grand Prix. Ericsson was running in the points at Silverstone but changed to Intermediate tyres early and lost track position, eventually coming home behind McLaren's Fernando Alonso. "It is disappointing to miss out on points when we had it in the bag for quite a long time," he said. "The first half of the race was reasonable. I […]

Braking ability crucial for Nasr

Felipe Nasr says that he needs to improve the feel of the brakes on his Sauber C34 if he is to be competitive at this weekend's Austrian Grand Prix. Having claimed ninth in Monaco, Nasr slumped to 16th in Canada as he struggled with the revised braking material used by the Swiss team. Nasr says that his priority during Friday's practice session in Austria is to re-find his feel with the brakes, or else he will revert back to an old set-up. "I’ve been running […]

Sauber set for wait after challenging races

Sauber started the season brightly, with Felipe Nasr claiming fifth on his debut in Australia while Marcus Ericsson backed up that result with his first Formula 1 points by placing eighth. Further points followed at the Chinese Grand Prix but since that race they have scored points only once, courtesy of Nasr's ninth place result in Monaco. Following its point-less campaign […]

Nasr hoping Sauber has improved traction

Felipe Nasr expects Sauber to be competitive at the Canadian Grand Prix but believes that the Swiss team needs to work on improving traction. Nasr claimed ninth position in Monaco but experienced difficulties in getting tyres up to temperature, which exacerbated Sauber's weaknesses. "I think this is one of the very few tracks that suits the characteristics of the car, especially with the long straights here, but one point we’ve been seeing is our traction is not that great compared to our competitors and in […]

Nasr wary of Sauber limitations

Felipe Nasr reckons Sauber will have to wit until Formula 1's summer break before it can realistically compete for points on a regular basis. Nasr claimed fifth on his debut in Australia and added more points with eighth in China, but failed to score in either Bahrain or Spain. "From what I hear we are waiting on a bigger update to come maybe after the break, hopefully we can bring more downforce on the car and improve the whole package," he said. "Until there I'm […]
