Lotus team to sell to 'Malaysian'

There are paddock rumours that F1 team Lotus' owner Genii may soon be sold. The German language Speed Week said it has heard that the likely buyer is from Malaysia. In 2010 and 2011, Malaysian entrepreneur Tony Fernandes' Caterham team was called Lotus, until a resolution was found to the F1 naming dispute with Group Lotus. Bad news chasing Lotus team at present

There is little good news to report about the Lotus F1 team at present. The UK financial website thisismoney.co.uk reports that the Enstone based team has recorded a $32 million pre-tax loss for last year. It is however an improvement on the $63 million loss of 2010. Lotus suspend Dany Bahar

Group Lotus has suspended their chief executive, Dany Bahar. Bahar has come under criticism for trying to turn Lotus into a 'British Ferrari' and for expanding the company into too many series. Genii Capital considering buying Group Lotus

Rumours that F1 team owner Genii is contemplating buying the Group Lotus sports car company are continuing to gain steam. That is despite Genii's Gerard Lopez confirming recently that the Enstone based team has ended its sponsorship deal with the carmaker, even though the team will continue to carry the Lotus name. Group Lotus launches scathing attack

Group Lotus has launched a scathing attack against rumours that the company is in financial problems and that Dany Bahar has been relived of his duties. In a Press Release posted on their Facebook page, Group Lotus responded to a picture posted by Sniff Petrol, before criticising the fortunes of Caterham F1 team.
