Toro Rosso struggled with speed

Sochi wasn’t an easy race weekend for Scuderia Toro Rosso as its drivers only managed to score one point during the Russian Grand Prix, due to lack of speed on the circuit’s long straights and a bad qualifying session on Saturday. Could Singapore have had a different winner?

This year’s Singapore Grand Prix was one of the most interesting races of the season from a strategy point of view. It showed that when the performance of the leading cars is closely matched, the strategy possibilities created by having three different tyre compounds make for unpredictable racing and close finishes. Toro Rosso investigating suspension issue

Toro Rosso says it is investigating an issue with is rear suspension which led to both Daniil Kvyat and Carlos Sainz Jr. retiring from the European Grand Prix. Kvyat started from sixth place but retired early on while Sainz Jr., who started in 18th spot, lasted longer before he was affected by a similar issue. Toro Rosso boss Franz Tost believes Daniil Kvyat has his mental strength back following a difficult period after his demotion from Red Bull. Kvyat started 2016 racing for Red Bull but was moved across to Toro Rosso prior to the Spanish Grand Prix, in which he came 10th. Carlos Sainz Jr. believes Toro Rosso can achieve another points finish after an encouraging day of practice for the Canadian Grand Prix. Daniil Kvyat says he is determined to prove his potential with Toro Rosso when Formula 1 visits Montreal this weekend for the Canadian Grand Prix. Kvyat finished on the podium in China but was demoted from Red Bull to Toro Rosso after four races in order to make way for Max Verstappen. Ericsson, Kvyat get Canada grid drops

Marcus Ericsson and Daniil Kvyat have both been given three-place grid penalties for the Canadian Grand Prix after instigating separate incidents in Monaco. Ericsson clashed with Sauber team-mate Felipe Nasr at Rascasse, while Kvyat collided with Kevin Magnussen at the same corner. Ericsson and Kvyat were also handed two penalty points for the incidents. Kvyat hails 'important' Toro Rosso test day

Daniil Kvyat hailed an "important" day in the Toro Rosso STR11 and feels he is much more confident for next weekend's Monaco Grand Prix. Kvyat, 22, was shuffled down from Red Bull to Toro Rosso prior to the Spanish Grand Prix and finished the race in 10th place, setting the fastest lap in the process.
