New 10 year deal for Canadian GP

The Canadian Grand Prix will remain on the Formula 1 calendar until at least 2024 after organisers confirmed that they have signed a 10 year deal. The contract extension was confirmed during a press conference attending by circuit officials and government members ahead of qualifying for this weekend's event. Alonso edges out Mercedes in first practice

Fernando Alonso edged out Lewis Hamilton during the opening 90 minute practice session ahead of this weekend’s Canadian Grand Prix. Alonso set a time of 1:17.238 in his Ferrari F14T to edge out Mercedes rival Hamilton by 0.016s. Championship leader Nico Rosberg was third.
