Hamilton wins accident-ridden Interlagos thriller

Lewis Hamilton finally broke his duck at Interlagos with a lights-to-flag victory in a heavily disrupted Brazilian Grand Prix, but Nico Rosberg took second place to remain the hot favourite for the world championship. The race started behind the safety car, following a ten-minute delay amidst the torrential rain, after Romain Grosjean lost control of his Haas and crashed on his reconnaissance lap. Hamilton maintained his lead when the race finally got under way, but it was Max Verstappen on the charge as he got […]

Williams abandons Massa appeal case

Williams has dropped its appeal against Felipe Massa's exclusion from the Brazilian Grand Prix. Massa finished the race in eighth spot but was disqualified due to a temperature irregularity with his right-rear tyre, which was 27 degrees above the limit on the grid. Raikkonen: Alternate strategy made no difference

Kimi Raikkonen says Ferrari's decision to use a two-stop strategy at the Brazilian Grand Prix made no difference to his final result as he placed fourth at Interlagos. While both Mercedes drivers and team-mate Sebastian Vettel stopped three times, Raikkonen made only two stops, but reckons the difference in strategy did not affect his position after 71 laps. "Not much happened in my race: the start was kind of OK, I had some wheelspin but I managed to keep the position and I could follow […]

Wolff: Mercedes, not drivers, decides strategy

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff has dismissed suggestions that Lewis Hamilton should have been allowed to try a different strategy during the Brazilian Grand Prix in a bid to pass team-mate Nico Rosberg. Hamilton trailed Rosberg throughout the race and requested an alternative approach, though Mercedes kept to its strategy of stopping three times. "We have our strategists - and if the drivers in the car start to make their own [decisions] they would lose every single race," Wolff is quoted by the official F1 website. […]

Vettel encouraged by deficit to Mercedes

Sebastian Vettel says he was encouraged by the comparatively small deficit he had to Mercedes at the end of the Brazilian Grand Prix. Vettel finished the race in third position, his 13th podium of 2015, but was only 14 seconds adrift of race winner Nico Rosberg after 71 laps, without the introduction of the Safety Car. "It was a good race," he said. "We were close as we had never been before, which is a massive achievement, considering that Mercedes was pushing all the way, […]

Hamilton wanted to try different strategy

Lewis Hamilton says he wanted to attempt a different strategy to Mercedes team-mate Nico Rosberg in a bid to win the Brazilian Grand Prix. Hamilton trailed Rosberg at Interlagos but wanted to deviate from the three-stop approach in what he called a 'boring' race. "Obviously I was behind Nico and in traffic for some time and it just killed my tyres," he explained. "It’s a shame because it’s such a great track but you just can’t get close enough to race. I don’t know if […]

Button describes speed difference as 'scary'

McLaren driver Jenson Button says the speed difference between his Honda-powered machine and rival cars was "scary" as he finished 15th at the Brazilian Grand Prix. Button started the race from 16th spot on the grid and made up one place to collect 15th and was pleasantly surprised by his ability to compete with rivals. "We never enjoy P15, but the race itself was reasonably pleasurable – I could push the car and fight people in the corners," he said. "We know where our weaknesses […]
