GP2, GP3 confirm 2014 calendar

GP2 has announced that there will be 11 rounds in next year's championship. The return of the Austrian Grand Prix for the first time since 2003 means that GP2 will race at the Red Bull Ring for the first time. The championship will also race at the inaugural Russian Grand Prix in Sochi. The addition of Austria and Russia means that rounds in Malaysia and Singapore have been dropped. FR3.5 2014: Germany replaces Austria on calendar

The Formula Renault 3.5 Series will race at the Nurburgring next season in place of a round at the Red Bull Ring in Austria. The renovated circuit, formerly the A1 Ring, hosted a round of the championship this season but drops off the calendar after just a single year. Kovalainen gets Japan practice outing

Heikki Kovalainen will drive in first practice for Caterham at the Japanese Grand Prix. The Finn lost his race seat at the team at the end of 2012 but has remained with Caterham as their reserve driver. It will be Kovalainen's fourth appearance in the opening 90 minute practice session in 2013. He drove in practice in Bahrain, Spain and Belgium. Kovalainen will replace Charles Pic for the session, with the Frenchman returning for second practice.

Backmarkers reprimanded for transgressions in Korea

Both Caterham and Marussia drivers have been given reprimands following transgressions during the Korean Grand Prix. Charles Pic and Jules Bianchi were both deemed to have ignored yellow flags during the closing stages of the race. 'The driver was actually 2kph faster going into the yellow flag area on Lap 53,' read a stewards report on Pic's actions. Paul di Resta has apologised to Force India after crashing out of the Korean Grand Prix. Di Resta lost the back end of the car at turn 12 and hit the barriers. It was the fourth successive race where the Brit has retired due to accident damage. Caterham driver Charles Pic has been reprimanded after ignoring a red light during second practice for the Korean Grand Prix. Pic set the twentieth fastest time in second practice but failed to stop for the weighbridge. 'The driver failed to proceed to the FIA garage for weighing when signalled to do so,' read the stewards decision. 'He admitted having seen the red light and that the official pointed to him.' WMSC confirms 2014 Formula 1 calendar

The World Motor Sport Council has unveiled the calendar for the 2014 Formula 1 season. The 22 race season will begin in Australia in March and end in Brazil in November. The Grand Prix of America is scheduled to take place on June 1st, the second race of three set to take place on consecutive weekends.
