Hamilton equals Schumacher's pole record

Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton will start the Belgian Grand Prix on Sunday from pole position after setting the quickest time of the qualifying session. His fast lap of 1:42.553 set an all-time track record at Spa, one-upping the hours-old mark of 1:43.916 set by Scuderia Ferrari’s Kimi Räikkönen in final practice (FP3). The 12th round of the 2017 Formula One Championship began with two practice session on Friday at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps as teams prepared for the Belgian Grand Prix. The two 90-minute sessions were run under disparate weather conditions, with FP1 run under a warm and sunny sky while FP2 began cloudy and ended with rain. Lewis Hamilton produced a fantastic comeback drive to make the podium after starting from the back row of the grid for the Belgian Grand Prix. Kimi Raikkonen out-paced Daniel Ricciardo and Ferrari team-mate Sebastian Vettel to top the timings in the third and final practice session ahead of the Belgian GP, but there were problems for Friday pace-setter Max Verstappen.
