Ricciardo hoping to save engine

Daniel Ricciardo says he is hopeful that he can save one of his four engines after technical problems blighted his preparation for the Australian Grand Prix. Ricciardo completed only nine laps on his way to 10th position in the first session and had to sit out second practice while Red Bull carried out a change of power unit. Each driver is permitted only four power units for the entire season and Ricciardo is naturally optimistic that one of the four from his allocation can be […]

Perez braced for painful start to 2015

Sergio Perez says that Force India is braced for a 'painful' start to 2015 after a disrupted pre-season period. Perez's squad did not introduce its new car until the final batch of pre-season tests and while the VJM08 ran reliably, Perez is aware that the team is behind its rivals. Force India enjoyed a positive start in 2014 - scoring over 50 points across the first four races - but the Mexican is aware that this year will be a different prospect. "We are not […]

Magnussen admits McLaren expectations are low

McLaren stand-in driver Kevin Magnussen says that the squad's expectations for this weekend's Australian Grand Prix are low after a difficult pre-season. McLaren's Honda-powered MP4-30 endured several problems across testing, with track time limited as the squad rectified issues. Magnussen is standing in for Fernando Alonso, who suffered a concussion during a crash on the final day of the second test. "I would say quite low," Magnussen said when asked about McLaren's ambitions. "We’re struggling obviously with reliability, making the car run for a long […]

No change of approach for champion Hamilton

Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton says he will not be changing his approach as he begins the defense of his world championship in Australia this weekend. Hamilton claimed his second crown in 2014 and this year is bidding for his third world title as he prepares to go head to head once again with team-mate Nico Rosberg. "It’s the same," he said when asked about his tactics. "I don’t see a particular exaggerated importance [compared] to any other time. "Of course you come here and you’d like […]

Button braced for steep learning curve

Jenson Button says that McLaren-Honda is braced for a steep learning curve at this weekend's season-opening Australian Grand Prix. Button's squad endured a troublesome pre-season campaign at Jerez and Barcelona, with the Honda-powered MP4-30 beset by issues which limited track time. "After the ups and downs of 2014, I feel that the challenge of 2015 is a completely new chapter in my career and I’m totally up for it," said Button, a three-time victor in Australia. "The team’s commitment to development and improvement, both in […]

Hamilton beat Rosberg to the 2014 title as the pair finished comfortably clear of Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo. Pre-season testing suggests that Mercedes will hold an advantage in 2015 and Rosberg says his target this season is to emerge on top. "We had a good winter but it's never straightforward," he said.
