Lotus to announce title sponsorship deal

F1 team Lotus is reportedly close to announcing a multi-million dollar title sponsorship deal with Honeywell, the American technology giant. "It is thought the framework of the agreement is in place and a formal announcement pending," said Sportspro journalist David Cushnan on Monday. Bernie Ecclestone has said that reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel is the yardstick in the sport. Vettel claimed his third world title in November's Brazilian Grand Prix. McLaren had the fastest car in 2012

McLaren fielded the consistently fastest car in 2012, an analysis has shown. According to the German language Speed Week, although Red Bull and Ferrari ended up fighting for the title, it was McLaren with the consistently faster car, based on an averaging of race laps throughout the 20-grand prix season. Fernando Alonso has admitted that qualifying eighth for the Brazilian Grand Prix is no surprise. The Spaniard scraped into Q3 and was then a few tenths slower than Felipe Massa in the final shootout. Lotus starting to use new driver simulator

Lotus is finally getting up-and-running with a state of the art driver simulator, the Dutch website formule1.nl reports. Romain Grosjean said he got his first taste of the new technology whilst preparing recently for Austin's brand new Circuit of the Americas layout. "I spent half a day in the simulator," said the Frenchman. "There are still some things to be improved, because we are only now starting to use it, but if it works properly it will be of great value," added Grosjean.
