Sauber sure of improvements despite woes

Sauber say they are making progress with the lighter C33 despite their Friday practice sessions in Spain being disrupted by issues. Adrian Sutil had a few problems but reserve Giedo van der Garde came off worse when his car suffered a brake failure into the first corner. The Dutchman managed to keep the car out of the wall but had to take evasive action through the gravel trap. Sutil ended the day in 13th place and expressed satisfaction with the potential of the C33. "We […]

Adrian Sutil has admitted that Sauber faces an uphill challenge ahead of this weekend's Chinese Grand Prix. Sauber has yet to score a point in 2014 and Sutil is not expecting their fortunes to change drastically in China. "The driveability of the car is still not easy," he said. "I am struggling with the tyres to get them to work. There is still a lot of work ahead of us. "In comparison to Bahrain, I think we had more straight line top speed, which brings […]

Sutil admits Sauber simply too slow

Adrian Sutil has admitted that Sauber is simply too slow ahead of this weekend's Chinese Grand Prix. Neither Sutil nor team-mate Esteban Gutierrez has scored a point so far in 2014, while their last two events have been blighted by unreliability and accidents. The German reckons Sauber made progress with the C33 at last week's post-race test in Bahrain but does not believe the team will make huge improvements until the sport reconvenes in Europe next month. "A little progress has been made at the […]

Sutil hits out at weight restrictions

Sauber driver Adrian Sutil has hit out at Formula 1's weight restrictions, revealing that he is not even carrying a water bottle during the races this season. Weight has become a prominent issue in 2014 with heavier power units causing some teams to struggle to get down to the minimum weight, despite the figure of 691kg being an increase on 2013. It is understood that Sauber is struggling to reach the weight limit, exacerbating the issue for a tall driver such as Sutil. "We have […]

Sauber sure C33 issues identified

Sauber has identified the issues which have plagued the C33 in 2014, according to team principal Monisha Kaltenborn. Neither Adrian Sutil nor Esteban Gutierrez finished in Malaysia and while both drivers reached the chequered flag two weeks previously in Melbourne, they did so outside of the points. Sauber is reportedly struggling to get the C33 down to the weight limit, but Kaltenborn is confident that matters will soon improve. "Melbourne was important because we finished with both cars and Kuala Lumpur a disappointment because we […]

We have a lot work ahead of us. We made steps in the right direction and it is working better than […]
