Di Resta sets pace in Canadian practice

Paul di Resta set the quickest time during first practice for the Canadian Grand Prix. The Force India driver's time of 1:21.020 was set on the medium compound tyres towards the end of the 90 minute session. Most of the session took place in wet conditions, following heavy overnight rain in Montreal. The wet weather meant that drivers were unable to test Pirelli's development tyres until the circuit dried sufficiently for slicks with 15 minutes remaining. Lotus owner Gerard Lopez has backed Romain Grosjean, amid speculation the Enstone based team could replace the beleaguered French driver. Having seemingly overcome his 'first lap nutcase' troubles of 2012, 27-year-old Grosjean is now back in the wars with a ten-place grid penalty for Montreal for his Monaco crash with Daniel Ricciardo. Dr Helmut Marko says Mercedes could have gained a one second per lap advantage by testing between the Spanish and Monaco grands prix. A controversy has erupted over Mercedes' 'secret' three-day, 1000km tyre test in Barcelona, before Nico Rosberg strolled from pole to victory in Monaco. Rosberg dominates to secure Monaco win

Nico Rosberg secured the second win of his career after dominating the Monaco Grand Prix. Rosberg led all 78 laps around the Principality and was comfortably ahead of runner up Sebastian Vettel. Vettel and team-mate Mark Webber overtook Lewis Hamilton during a safety car period to clear up debris following an accident for Felipe Massa. Cecotto banned from Monaco sprint race

Johnny Cecotto has been suspended from GP2's sprint race in Monaco after being deemed to have caused the start crash in the feature race. Cecotto started from pole position but had slipped to second, behind team-mate Mitch Evans, by Sainte Devote. The Venezuelan driver locked up and hit the barrier, taking out Fabio Leimer as well. Bird flies to Monaco win after chaotic start

Sam Bird claimed a dominant victory in the GP2 feature race in Monaco after the race was red flagged for 40 minutes. After a 20 minute delay due to accident damage in a preceding race, a pile up at Ste Devote blocked the circuit and forced several cars out of the race. De Villota to return to F1 paddock this weekend

Ten months after her Marussia testing crash, Maria de Villota will return to a Formula One paddock this weekend in her native Spain. Last July, the 33-year-old was conducting a straightline aerodynamic test at Duxford, UK, when the 2012 Marussia inexplicably accelerated into a truck loading ramp.
