Grosjean is 'an idiot' says Ricciardo

Daniel Ricciardo has added to Romain Grosjean's woes by admitting he called the beleaguered Lotus driver "an idiot" in Monaco. Frenchman Grosjean, last year branded the 'first lap nutcase' by Mark Webber after a spate of incidents culminating in a race ban, ended Ricciardo's Monaco race with a rear-end collision last Sunday. The crash has cost him ten places on the Montreal grid, and renewed reports his place in F1 might be in doubt. Australian Ricciardo admits the incident angered him. "You want to blow […]

Bianchi feels pressure to push Marussia forward

Jules Bianchi thinks it is possible Marussia is on the verge of breaking into F1's midfield. Since the team debuted as Virgin in 2010, the red and black cars have always occupied the last rows of the grid, and Bernie Ecclestone even wanted Marussia to merge with fellow backmarker Caterham ahead of the 2013 season. And as recently as this week, F1's chief executive has proposed a 'customer car' rule be introduced. "Ecclestone says the new rule would particularly benefit Marussia, F1's worst-performing team," F1 […]

Heikki Kovalainen insists it is "no surprise" Caterham has struggled so far in 2013. The Finn, who has been a leading race driver at the team since its Team Lotus inception in 2010, was dropped for 2013 in favour of pay-drivers Charles Pic and Giedo van der Garde. 31-year-old Kovalainen, however, is now back in a reserve and testing role. He drove in Friday practice recently in Bahrain, and on Friday in Barcelona he will drive again, at the wheel of Frenchman Pic's car. He […]

$10m fund for 2010 new teams to end

Bernie Ecclestone has said that Caterham and Marussia will no longer receive $10m on an annual basis. The lump sum was paid to the three teams who joined the grid in 2010 but this has now ceased. Only the top 10 teams will receive money under the new proposed Concorde Agreement. Marussia currently holds 10th place in the championship courtesy of Jules Bianchi's 13th place in Malaysia. The two teams held unsuccessful merger talks over the winter. Ecclestone also confirmed to The Daily Telegraph that […]
