Adrian Sutil is set to return to Formula One with Force India this season.

Sutil, who sat out 2012 in the wake of the Eric Lux assault affair, has beaten hot contender Jules Bianchi to become Paul di Resta's new teammate.

Force India is yet to confirm Sutil, although a decision is understood to have been made.

"Sutil was in the McLaren simulator yesterday. As of Thursday, he will be in action for the last pre-season test in Barcelona", German media reported.

"On 17 March in Australia, he will race a grand prix for the first time since Brazil 2011," added the report.

"Jules Bianchi will not be Paul Di Resta's team mate. I was told today," Bianchi's manager Nicolas Todt told Reuters.

"Sad for my friend @JulesBianchi, we starting Karting together and would have been nice to see him in F1.. keep it up for 2014!" Toro Rosso driver Jean Eric Vergne said on Twitter.

Paul di Resta will test the VJM06 in Barcelona on Thursday.
