Nico Rosberg will start the Monaco Grand Prix from pole position after the stewards opted to take no further action on his error, which caused a yellow flag and resulted in team-mate Lewis Hamilton being unable to improve his lap time.

Rosberg had set a time good enough for provisional pole but made a mistake at Mirabeau on his second run, travelling down the escape road and triggering a yellow flag.

After the incident the stewards announced that Rosberg's actions were being investigated.

A statement said that the stewards 'examined video and telemetry data from the team and the FIA and could find no evidence of any offence related to the turn five incident.'

Rosberg therefore retains his pole position and will line-up alongside Hamilton on the grid.
