The manager of Michael Schumacher says that doctors treating the German are beginning the waking up process.

Schumacher has been in an induced coma since a skiing accident at the end of December.

'Michael’s sedation is being reduced in order to allow the start of the waking up process which may take long time,' read a statement released by Sabine Kehm.

'For the protection of the family, it was originally agreed by the interested parties to communicate this information only once this process was consolidated. Please note that no further updates will be given.'

Both Mercedes and Ferrari are carrying messages of support for the German on their cars during testing at Jerez this week.
